Banana plants are fibrous and the plant is harvested after fruiting. It is similar to ramie fibre but is even finer and more spinnable. It is shiny, ligtweight has good moisture absorption and release so it wicks moisture away from the body and is bio-degradable.

It's a plant fibre so will not felt unless added to wool where it gives lustre and interest..
